US Accountant
The numbers matter. So does the relationship. This is a bookkeeping and accounting role for someone who's equally comfortable in QBO and on a client call with a SaaS founder.
We usually respond within three days
About The Back Room
We exist to free our clients' time so they can focus on what they do best — growing their business. We deliver smart, efficient solutions that liberate teams from the everyday admin, and we hold ourselves to the same standard. Time is the ultimate currency, and we treat it like it.
About the Client
Our is a leading U.S.-based fractional finance firm trusted by over 800 venture-backed startups — from pre-seed to Series C. They work across SaaS, AI, Fintech, Biotech, and Clean Energy, providing full-stack financial support including accounting, CFO services, tax, and HR. Their clients are fast-moving, tech-forward companies that expect responsiveness, accuracy, and a finance partner who genuinely understands their world.
The Role
This is an accounting role where the relationship is part of the job. You'll manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting for a portfolio of U.S. SaaS and startup clients — keeping books clean, close cycles tight, and clients informed. The person who thrives here is technically solid, proactive in communication, and comfortable working directly with founders and finance leads without needing hand-holding.
What You'll Do
Own full-cycle bookkeeping and accounting for a portfolio of U.S.-based SaaS and startup clients
Manage AP/AR, bank reconciliations, payroll journal entries, and month-end close
Prepare and review monthly financials — P&L, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements
Communicate directly with clients: respond to queries, flag issues proactively, and keep them informed without being asked
Work across QBO, Xero, and/or NetSuite depending on client setup; maintain clean, audit-ready books at all times
Support revenue recognition entries and accruals in line with GAAP
Collaborate with fractional CFOs and senior team members on client deliverables
Flag workflow issues and suggest improvements as you go
What We're Looking For
2–5 years of bookkeeping or accounting experience; client-facing or public accounting background strongly preferred
Hands-on experience with QBO and/or Xero; certification in either is a strong plus
Comfortable communicating directly with clients — clear, responsive, and professional in writing and conversation
Solid understanding of GAAP fundamentals and month-end close processes
Exposure to SaaS clients or startup environments is a genuine advantage — you understand recurring revenue, burn rate, and why founders move fast
Full U.S. business hours availability (overlap with U.S. time zones required)
Strong attention to detail with good self-review habits
QBO Certified ProAdvisor, Xero Certified, or NetSuite experience
Familiarity with tools like Gusto, Rippling, Bill.com, Ramp, or Rillet
Experience with multi-entity or multi-currency accounting
CPA (Philippine or U.S.) or currently pursuing
Why This Role
Our client works with some of the most exciting startups in the U.S. — and this is a front-row seat to how they run their finances. If you want client exposure, a fast-paced environment, and the chance to grow your skills across a wide range of tech companies, this role delivers all three.
This role is open to Philippine citizens currently based in the Philippines.
